Ohio Governor Mike DeWine announced he’s giving away $1 Million in a Vax-a-Million incentive to encourage Ohio residents to get vaccinated for COVID-19. It’s sort of a vaccination lottery scheme for the state. Twitter users, of course, are going off about the odd lottery incentive for vaccinations.
“I am beyond disappointed in Ohio for the waste and abuse of these funds. We need new leadership,” tweeted Jarrett Skrobarcek (@Skrobes).
“Well..what do you expect. The guinea pigs are loving the chance at being a million dollars richer. Nice bribe, mind you. Kudos to whoever thought that one up,” responded Draconius @Dracoshooter
“There are over 11 million people in Ohio…..and giving money to 5 people is an incentive?” stated gail rosewater @GRosewater
Carlos Estrada @MrVigilanteBTC replied “Because your “bribing” them with millions of tax payer money with a raffle? That could go into helping poverty? This isn’t even a stance on the vaccine. But this is a huge misappropriation of funds. As always, the government is the worst capital allocator.”
“It’s not bribing, especially since getting the vaccine doesn’t guarantee payment. It’s simply an incentive to motivate people to get their vaccine scheduled for those who may be putting it for mundane reasons like forgetfulness or typical procrastination,” tweeted Rebecca Joy@rebelhjoy.
Everybody Hates Chris@MyWorldMyWay22 was simple “Bribery is illegal.”
Adam Miller@AdamTMiller1708 cleared everything up with “Please note the definition of a bribe: “What Is a Bribe? A bribe is an illegal act involving the exchange of something of value, such as money, with the purpose of influencing the behavior of public officials.” No public official=Not a bribe.”
