About Listeria infections
Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause serious and sometimes life-threatening infections. Anyone who has been exposed to any of the recalled products should seek medical attention and inform their doctor about possible Listeria infections.

Also, anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products should monitor themselves for symptoms during the coming weeks because it can take up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria for symptoms of listeriosis to develop.

Symptoms of Listeria infections include nausea, vomiting, persistent fever, muscle pains, severe headaches, and stiffness in the neck. Listeria infections can mimic other diseases and require specific laboratory tests.

Pregnant and elderly women, children, and cancer patients are at greater risk for serious illness, life-threatening infections, and other complications. Even though pregnant women with flu symptoms may not experience severe complications, they can still be in danger of having their babies prematurely delivered, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.
