ASIA NEWS: Gradiant Achieves Strong Growth Across Asia in Cleantech Water Treatment during the Pandemic

SINGAPORE, Sept 15, 2021 – (ACN Newswire) – Gradiant, an end-to-end cleantech water treatment solutions provider, announced that it has secured 26 new projects in 2021 year-to-date (YTD) across the Asia Pacific (APAC) region. Four of the projects will be delivered as design-build-own-operate-manage (DBOOM) contracts for long-term concession periods of up to 20 years. The business growth demonstrates increased demand for advanced water & wastewater treatment during the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The new contracts in 2021 are with a variety of high-profile clients from the government, industrial and municipal sectors. Eighteen of the 26 new projects in 2021 YTD are with new clients that have selected Gradiant for the first time to solve their complex water challenges. This year, Gradiant has added new applications to its technologies in semiconductor fabrication and lithium mining.

“Our business has thrived this year at Gradiant, despite the challenging market dynamics brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Prakash Govindan, Co-Founder and COO of Gradiant. We have been able to adapt to changing market needs by acquiring new clients to reach new COVID-resistant markets in semiconductors, mining and personal protective equipment (PPE)” Gradiant’s SmartOpsTM asset management and remote monitoring and control systems allow facilities to continue producing mission-critical water despite restrictions on access and travel due to COVID. Since the onset of the pandemic in early 2020 until today, Gradiant has been awarded 56 new projects, delivering a total contract value of over US$514 million. These achievements were achieved while managing the pandemic. We are proud of them. “

Gradiant is committed to the Asia Pacific region. Gradiant has experienced almost all of its growth in 2021 Year to Date in Asia Pacific. This region is known for its rapid urbanisation and high demand for sustainable and clean technologies. Gradiant was awarded new contracts to construct facilities in Indonesia, Vietnam, as well as Antarctica. Gradiant’s team has grown from 250 people at the end of 2020, to about 350 people in 2021 YTD – almost all headcount growth has been in the Asia Pacific region, mainly in their Singapore Regional HQ and R&D Center.

Research from MSCI

has indicated growing attention to sustainability among investors, who have recognised that companies with strong environmental, social and governance practices in Asia are outperforming their counterparts. These trends indicate a growing need for brand owners and business leaders to adopt sustainable business practices. Gradiant is a cleantech solution provider that can help them.

“We are experiencing another year of robust growth at Gradiant,” said Luke Johnson, CFO of Gradiant. “Growth is consistent across our strategic markets in semiconductors and mining and pharmaceuticals. Our new contract wins support market demand for cleantech solutions as well as DBOOM concession agreements. This year, we have demonstrated that our acquisitions in Malaysia of Sigma Water and Australia of CRS Water created synergies for new customers, applications and geographies. These synergies were made possible by Gradiant’s clean technology and project development and financing capabilities.
