ARLINGTON, Va.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AeroVironment, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVAV), a global leader in intelligent, multi-domain robotic systems, today announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Telerob, successfully delivered the United States Pentagon Force Protection Agency’s (PFPA) telemax(tm) EVO HYBRID unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) order in July 2021. The UGV is intended to be used by PFPA explosive disposal (EOD), and hazardous materials handling technicians (HAZMAT). It was purchased by the Hazardous Devices Branch.
“With the strong 6-axis precision manipulater, Tool Center Point Controller and automatic tool exchange, telemax EVOHYBRID allows EOD and HAZMAT units perform dangerous missions from safe distances and with precision control even in tight spaces,” Brian Young, AeroVironment vice-president and general manager of unmanned ground vehicles, said.
A versatile UGV, the telemax EVOHYBRID has an extensive payload bay and an automatic tool exchange. This allows operators to carry multiple tools, disruptors or other sensors downrange. It eliminates round-trip load-outs. The telemax EVO HYBRID has a 4-track drive system that can handle multiple terrains, gaps, and gradients. It also features an onboard IP Mesh radio for secure communication in urban environments.
