A survey of 2,000 UK holidaymakers revealed six in 10 regarded ‘getting away’ as their passion.

More than half of (52 holidaymakers have saved more to their next vacation than they would normally do due to the pandemic.

The result is a staggering PS2 ,543 saved up for their next vacation.

While the nation is in a DIY frenzy, 36 percent of those who are saving for their next vacation have put off home improvements in order to save money for a big post-pandemic vacation.

The research was done by Eurofins which provides PCR testing to people who want to travel abroad.

It was also revealed that the pandemic encouraged people to live their lives to the fullest, with one third of respondents making a list of travel experiences on their bucket lists.

They have visited an average of five locations.

A trip to see the Northern Lights was followed by a trip on the Orient Express in the USA and driving Route 66.

These were the top five most popular travel experiences for British holiday-makers.

The study also revealed that 55 percent want to travel abroad with vaccination passports in order to protect their health.

Almost half of (48 respondents want more space, while 47 3% want better ventilation.

A similar figure (45 percent wants masks at all times inside airports, while 41 percent want passengers to undergo PCR tests before they leave.

With more than a third having to cancel a trip abroad due to the pandemic it is not surprising that so many people are eager to go on their next vacation.

Nick Phillips, Eurofins Covid Testing Services managing director, said: “The past 18 months has totally disrupted travel plans, and now all Brits want are safe and hassle-free travel experiences.

“To support those who dream of travelling again, Eurofins has introduced an extensive network of 150 COVID-19 testing sites in the UK, with twice-daily sample collections to ensure swift and reliable delivery to laboratories.”
