Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that God of War Ragnarok will support full localization (voice and text) in 11 languages (13 if you count European and South American variations). Subtitles will cover eight additional languages.
The lists are as follows:
Full Localization [Voice Over + Text]
- Portuguese [European]
- Portuguese [Brazilian]
- Spanish [European]
- Spanish [Latin American]
- Chinese [Simplified]
- Chinese [Traditional]
Santa Monica Studio also noted that the languages available to players will depend on the region in which they make their purchase. Some SKUs may not support all the languages mentioned.
God of War Ragnarok will end the Norse saga, and will show an evolution of Kratos and Atreus as well as their abilities. Santa Monica Studio has previously stated that Atreus will be more resourceful in combat, but their enemies will become smarter.
“In Ragnarok, what we are trying to do specifically with Kratos, we’re trying to give a lot more expressiveness to the player,” director Eric Williams told IGN last month. “The way [Kratos and Atreus] links up, he has grown up a bit so he has a lot of follow-ups. Creatures then obviously need to have tools to go against that, otherwise you’re going to destroy them.”
Following a delay, God of War Ragnarok will release in 2022. Christopher Judge, Kratos’ voice actor, said that the delay was due to Christopher’s medical issues.
