Ubisoft reportedly wants to overhaul the Far Cry franchise after the release of Far Cry6 ..
Axios’ Stephen Totilo claimed to have heard from his sources that Ubisoft is “exploring a more online-oriented approach for a sequel.” His sources have corroborated what journalist Jason Schreier said in his Triple Click Podcast back in June – that Ubisoft is “aiming to go in a radically different direction for Far Cry” after the latest release.
Considering both journalists’ track record, we have no reason to doubt this report.
Schreier previously leaked Assassin’s Creed Infinity, which is supposedly taking the franchise in an entirely new direction. His Bloomberg report back in July forced Ubisoft to acknowledge Infinity‘s existence, but the developer stopped short of confirming that Assassin’s Creed is now set to become an evolving online platform like Schreier had claimed.
Considering the direction in which Ubisoft is going, it makes sense that the company is leaning towards an online-oriented approach for Far Cry 7 as well. It was only a few days ago that a Far Cry 6 teaser was thought to be hinting at a multiplayer game set within the series’ universe.
While this may concern some, it is worth noting that the FarCry series’ last entries were criticized for not adding anything new. This has been the greatest criticism of FarCry 6 ,. Many critics and fans alike feel that the game feels the same but in a more modern setting.
We’ll keep our readers updated when we have more information on the next Far cry ..
