A Cedar Rapids man escaped from a Residential Reentry Center, where he was serving a federal sentence. He was sentenced today for an additional 11 month in federal prison.
Dante Glinn (age 28,) from Cedar Rapids in Iowa was sentenced to a term of imprisonment for one count of escape.
admitted that he had stolen a firearm from an authorized firearms dealer on June 21, 2016, and was sentenced to a 78- month in prison. Glinn was transferred to the Gerald R. Hinzman Residential Center in August 2020, to finish his federal prison sentence. Glinn was released from the facility in September 30, on an authorization pass to return to work. He never came back. Glinn was then arrested by the United States Marshal’s Service on May 5, 2021..
Glinn received his sentence in Cedar Rapids by Leonard T. Strand, Chief Judge of the United States District Court. Glinn was sentenced 11 months imprisonment. He must also serve a term of three-year supervision after his prison term. Federal parole is not available.
Glinn has been placed in the custody of the United States Marshal until he is transported to a federal jail.
The case was investigated by the United States Marshal’s Service and prosecuted by Assistant United States attorney Patrick Reinert.
