Too much salt hampers the body’s energy production, changes immune cells By Daniel Webster Small changes of sodium in the blood reduce the amount of energy produced in the mitochondria – the power plants of our cells, a new study from Professor Dominik Müller of the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) and the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC ) finds. This has consequences for immune cells.
